HOW DOES INTERNET TRAVEL USING A MODEL?

One must has to chose Open system interconnect to understand IT systems better. As it provides the best reference layers to understand it. Now one can not ignore the presence of information technology in every days life. One see thee examples of it system of a small office, a large office and the whole internet. One can learn how internet travels in the wires here. However, there is a standard methodology to understand internet through this model. 



According to Andrew S. Tanenbaum and David j.wetherall some of the interesting features of it includes  Abstraction. It is reference model. Most of the technical terms are related to an ideal world. These terms are very important to understand it. It is a well defined model Well Defined model each layer in this model has a well defined roll. It means that one can not ignore the theoretical aspect to understand it system. It has an International standardized protocol system. Each layers has been chosen to make an international standard. Everyone has to follow these standards to improve it system. It has a proper Flow of information in it. Each layer actually sets a boundary across different layers. Information has to pass through these boundaries to reach to the destination. It also has Flexibility in itNumber of layers are large enough that they can only be minimized to understand the IT system. SO it provides a flexible model too. The major layers of it included Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation and Application layer. The most important layers included physical network and application layers. As mentioned before Physical layer provides the basic structure of wires and equipment's through which internet travels in it. Similarly network layer deals with the devices which have internet protocols. These protocols have become an important part of every day life. Whereas application layer deals with the front end view of the screen. However there are some of the important protocols present just like DNS, HTTP ,SMTP and other ones. In transport layer one deals with TCP and UDP. One of them provides reliable and other one provides the unreliable communication for users. Whereas in Data link layers all those devices are present which deals with MAC addresses or physical addresses. 

In a nutshell, It can be said that this reference model provides some of the features which are very important to understand IT systems. Similarly there are some of the important layers in it. They included physical, data link, network, transport, session, presentation and application layers.
